How To Take Macro Shots Without Buying A New Lens

This video over at Lynda.com demonstrates reverse lens macro photography.

The one thing the video doesn’t cover is setting the aperture of your lens before taking the shot. Because you’re removing the lens form the body and shooting in reverse you’re unable to set the aperture immediately prior  to the shot.

However, all you have to do is set your aperture then press your depth of field button. The lens will switch to your desired aperture. Now you can remove the lens from the body and the lens aperture will remain where you set it to.

i would have never guessed my nifty fitty would work in reverse, much less make a sharp macro shot.

gonna try it w/o the reversal ring outside when there’s plenty of light and see what’s up.
may wanna grab one of these in the future!

i caught that. but i’m not budgeting in anything gear related at all till i get a 70D.
i’ve only been photographing with a DSLR for 7 months and it’s time for an upgrade.
