I was nodding my head quite a bit when I watched this, so many of these things seemed so familiar to me. My personal advice to all of you who are just getting started; pay extra attention to the last tip. I’ve learned the hard way you need to have time for your personal projects, to keep your creativity alive!
1. Start small, in your own backyard
- find friends who want to be a part of your projects
- work with what you’ve got instead of hauling expensive gear
2. Storytelling
- use tried and true storytelling techniques
- always add something of your own, to create unique work
3. Share your work
- use social media to connect with like-minded people
- photo exhibitions, contests
- don’t be afraid of people not liking your work
4. Remember deadlines
- always deliver on time (make realistic schedules)
- exceed clients’ expectations
5. Balance profit & creativity
- maintain your creative spark
- make time for personal projects
- consistently produce work that makes you proud
