If you’re new to flash photography you may be struggling to make it work for your outdoor portraits. For me this was one of the most important things I learned when I first started experimenting with an external flash.

While it may seem pretty complicated to take your flash off the camera and use it outdoors when there’s lots of daylight available, it’s actually a very simple process. You just need to know what settings to use to make your subject stand out. These settings will also help you avoid over and underexposure when you’re mixing flash with ambient light.
