This is a video for Canon users – I’m not sure if other manufacturers do the same thing (if they do, please share in the comments below).
However, I’ve been shooting with Canon from day one so that makes me shake my head even more. How could I not know about this? Did you know?

Pro-level Nikons have a shutter on the rear element of the viewfinder. Just flip a little switch and it’s totally sealed.
If I remember correctly, my Canon A-1 from the ’80s had a built-in shutter for this purpose.
