Sometimes I run into people who determine a good or a professional photographer by the camera he/she is using. I’ve always thought it’s a bit funny, and the people making these assumptions probably don’t know much about photography.

Is there a certain camera or lens one needs before you can call them a professional? Do you need a full-frame DSLR if you want to go pro? Or should you get a medium format camera? What about vintage film cameras? I bet we all have some kind of an opinion on the subject.
