It’s not that difficult to learn how to use a camera, find a great lens for portraiture and figure out the correct settings to make your subject pop out. But to make your client feel comfortable and produce the kind of images that make them come back to you – now that’s a whole different deal.
If your portrait clients are feeling nervous or uncomfortable and you’re not doing anything to help them relax, it’s going to become a bad experience for them AND you. You need to pay attention to your own behavior – you may be unconsciously making them even more nervous, even if you don’t mean to.
