In my opinion the greatest thing about black and white photos is that they can make the dullest and most uninviting places look dramatic and interesting. If I can’t seem to find anything interesting to shoot around me, I take a couple of test shots in black and white and suddenly everything looks inspiring again.
However, not all b&w images turn out great, if you have no idea what you’re doing. Composition is important in all photography, but when you take away the colors it becomes absolutely essential. Too much contrast (or the lack of it) can also make or break a black and white image.
