How To Do A Nightime Photo Shoot In The Middle Of The Day

In his video series for Adorama “Take & Make Great Photos” Gavin Hoey teaches how to create a nighttime photo shoot in the middle of the day using just a few lights, smoke and, colored gels.

Gavin gets this shoot almost completely in camera. He still does just a small amount of post editing. I am going to be doing a Halloween Photo Shoot with my wife and son and I’m totally planning to use these techniques since my son is in bed by 7 every night and he just wouldn’t be cooperative after dark.

Below is the list of equipment he uses.

Olympus OMD E-M5 Mark II Camera

Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro

Blackrapid RS-7 Strap

Sekonic L-308S Flashmate

Flashpoint StreakLight 360 Ws Creative Collection

Glow ParaPop 28″ R Softbox

Flashpoint Zoom Li-on Manual On-Camera Flash

Linco 8’ Light Stand
