I think it’s the use of opacity that makes the retouch believable
Obviously Photoshop itself is the powerhouse when it comes to retouching. Whenever I retouch in Photoshop I always adjust the opacity of the layers I am using for both blemishes and wrinkle. If you remove everything and don’t adjust opacity your image will come out looking over cooked.

would love to get lightroom but my computer is not compatible for the program! 🙁
Unfortunately the next release of Lightroom will require a 64-bit computer. When I am working with a large batch of images and I need to go back-and-forth between Photoshop and Lightroom I usually export to a folder outside of light room and then import into Photoshop. Lightroom is a memory hog. Most likely because it is such a powerful program. I am in a place where I couldn’t do my job without it.
